Dr. Kawalick received her BA cum laude from University of Pennsylvania and her MD from Tulane University School of Medicine. She completed residency training in psychiatry at New York Presbyterian Hospital - Weill Cornell Medicine, where she served as Chief Resident. She completed a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at New York Presbyterian Hospital - Weill Cornell Medicine Institute of Geriatric Psychiatry. She then served as an inpatient attending psychiatrist at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical
College, where she led a multidisciplinary team and taught medical students, psychiatry residents, geriatric fellows and nursing students. In addition to her private practice she also works for the State of New York Office of Mental Health treating forensic patients with refractory mental illness and severe comorbid medical issues.
Dr. Kawalick is a psychiatrist and psychotherapist. She treats a range of psychiatric conditions in adults and has an expertise in treating individuals with refractory illness and/or co-morbid medical illness, including using complicated psychopharmacological regimens. In her practice she utilizes psychotherapy, medication management, and combination treatment, based on individual need and preference. She offers evaluations, consultations, second opinions and ongoing treatment, both virtually and in-person in New York City.
