About Dr. Kawalick

Dr. Kawalick received her BA cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and her MD from Tulane University School of Medicine. She completed residency training in psychiatry at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine, where she served as Chief Resident, followed by a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at the Weill Cornell Institute of Geriatric Psychiatry. She then served as an inpatient attending psychiatrist at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, leading a multidisciplinary team and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. She subsequently completed a fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and now works for the New York State Office of Mental Health treating complex forensic psychiatric cases, in addition to her private practice.

Services

Dr. Kawalick offers both psychiatric medication management and individual psychotherapy for adults, tailored to each patient's needs and preferences. She has particular expertise in complex psychopharmacology and in patients with co-occurring medical illness, but her practice is not limited to complicated cases — she also works with patients seeking a stable, ongoing therapeutic relationship focused on personal growth, life transitions, and day-to-day functioning. Sessions are available in-person on the Upper East Side or via telehealth.
